WMS Integration Checklist: Test Data Flows Before Going Live
A WMS integration connects systems that may use different definitions of stock and order status. The launch is ready only when ordinary transactions and failure cases work together. Use a written acceptance checklist instead of relying on a successful demonstration of one order.
A WMS integration connects systems that may use different definitions of stock and order status. The launch is ready only when ordinary transactions and failure cases work together. Use a written acceptance checklist instead of relying on a successful demonstration of one order.
Start with the inventory management framework and agree which system owns product identifiers, available quantity, reservations, order status and shipment references. Define SKU variants and units of measure before mapping them.
Record update direction and timing. If two systems can overwrite the same field, define the conflict rule. A newer timestamp alone may not represent the correct business event, especially when updates arrive late.
Build a Representative Test Set
Receive an exact shipment and one with a shortage.
Import a single-line and a multi-line order.
Reserve the last unit while another channel requests it.
Cancel before release and after picking has started.
Process a partial shipment without marking missing items dispatched.
Receive a return without making it automatically sellable.
Keep the expected result for each system, not only a screenshot of the warehouse dashboard. Use test records or a controlled pilot that cannot accidentally dispatch customer orders.
Test Duplicates, Outages and Recovery
A repeated message must not create a second order or duplicate stock movement. Test delayed and out-of-order messages, expired access, a rejected product identifier and a temporary connection failure.
The movement tracking guide explains the source events. For each failure, define the visible alert, retry rule, reconciliation method and person responsible. Confirm how the system avoids silently discarding the record.
Set Measurable Acceptance Criteria
Agree acceptable update delays with the business, then measure the complete path from source to destination. Review missing orders, reservation mismatches, duplicate dispatches and unresolved errors. There is no universal delay target that fits every channel or operating model.
Get sign-off from warehouse operations and the channel owner. A technical success response does not prove that the quantity is sellable or that the correct order received its tracking number.
Prepare the Cutover and Rollback
Use the warehouse inventory transfer checklist when a system launch accompanies a facility move. Reconcile opening balances, freeze conflicting changes for the agreed window and retain a documented route back if acceptance checks fail.
Ask Skynera to confirm the actual integration scope for your channels, including ownership of support and exceptions. This checklist describes controls to request, not a claim that every connector or automated feature is available.
