Order Accuracy in a WMS: Check SKU, Quantity and Shipment Identity

An accurate stock balance does not guarantee an accurate parcel. Order accuracy requires the correct product, quantity and shipment identity to stay together through import, picking, packing and carrier handover. Locate the failed checkpoint before replacing software or adding more scanning steps.

An accurate stock balance does not guarantee an accurate parcel. Order accuracy requires the correct product, quantity and shipment identity to stay together through import, picking, packing and carrier handover. Locate the failed checkpoint before replacing software or adding more scanning steps.

Define What Counts as an Error

State whether your metric measures complete orders, order lines or units, and which errors it includes. Report wrong SKU, wrong quantity, missing item and wrong label separately where possible. A carrier delay is a different issue from a correctly packed order.

The inventory management guide covers balances and availability. Use the stock discrepancy workflow when physical stock is wrong; use this guide when the order or parcel is wrong.

Check the Order Before Release

Verify product mapping, variants, bundle components and units of measure against the accepted selling-channel order. Check how order edits and cancellations are represented. A correct pick against an incorrectly imported order still produces a customer error.

Follow the order release rules to hold incomplete instructions. Do not substitute an item or split an order without an agreed policy and traceable instruction.

Verify Picking and Packing Identity

  1. Confirm the location and product identifier against the task.
  2. Confirm the quantity and unit of measure.
  3. Keep the picked items associated with the order while moving to packing.
  4. Check the contents against the order before closing the parcel.
  5. Match the shipping label to that parcel and retain the dispatch reference.

Test look-alike variants and multi-parcel orders. Scanning a location alone does not verify the item, and scanning a product alone does not verify the quantity.

Investigate an Error Through the Full Trace

Compare the accepted order, warehouse task, pick confirmation, packing evidence and carrier record. Identify the first point at which they disagree. A returned wrong item can reveal a mapping issue, a physical mispick or a label swap; each needs a different correction.

Keep a controlled exception path for unreadable barcodes, unexpected stock and changed addresses. Operators should not need to bypass checks silently to finish a task.

Measure the Correction Fairly

Compare similar order mixes and record the sample size. Track rework and prevented errors alongside customer-reported errors. A short pilot with simple orders cannot substantiate a site-wide accuracy guarantee.

When discussing fulfillment in Mexico, ask Skynera which product, quantity and label checks apply to your operation and how discrepancies will be reported. Request a documented measurement method rather than an unsupported promise of error-free fulfillment.

Discuss picking, packing and order checks.
