A product-code search is a starting point, not a substitute for a classification review. When two descriptions appear plausible or a supplier’s code conflicts with a broker’s assessment, collect the product evidence and document the decision before relying on it for a shipment.
Record the destination country and the question: product function, material composition, a kit versus individual components, or a changed model. Ask what additional information would distinguish the alternatives. Avoid asking a reviewer to confirm a code based only on the online store title.
The USITC HTS is the official US tariff research source. Mexico’s SNICE legal library provides Mexican classification references. Confirm the current rules and any need for an authority ruling with a qualified customs professional.
A product code, country of dispatch and preferential-origin assessment answer different questions. Do not infer USMCA eligibility from a Mexican warehouse location or from a code copied out of a supplier invoice. Cross-reference the evidence, but retain distinct decisions in your product file.
Preserve the historical record and ask the responsible specialist whether corrective action is required. Do not rewrite old documents merely to match today’s master data. Log the difference, affected shipments and the decision on follow-up.
Publish the approved field only after review, tell the shipping team which version applies and add a re-review trigger for product changes. The customs SKU master checklist helps carry the decision into daily operations.
Connect these controls to the Mexico–US cross-border fulfillment guide. Discuss your Mexico warehousing and dispatch requirements with Skynera and confirm the agreed responsibilities before implementation.
