A fee announcement is a reason to recalculate—not proof that you should abandon a fulfillment model. First verify that the change applies to your marketplace, account, product and effective date. This article does not claim a new fee increase or publish a current Amazon Mexico tariff table.

Create a dated baseline

Save the applicable fee notice and export a representative order sample. Record the SKU, units sold, sales revenue, product cost, packed dimensions and the charges actually incurred. Separate fulfillment fees from referral fees, advertising and other expenses so you know which variable changed.

Use the same currency and consistent treatment of taxes and refunds in both calculations. Record assumptions separately from invoice-confirmed amounts. A temporary promotion should not silently become the long-term rate in your forecast.

Calculate the change without changing every other variable

  1. Apply the previous charges to the sample order mix.
  2. Apply the verified new charges to the same quantities and product measurements.
  3. Subtract old modeled cost from new modeled cost to isolate the fee effect.
  4. Calculate the resulting contribution margin per SKU.
  5. Then test alternatives: packaging changes, different replenishment quantities, pricing or a fulfillment pilot.

For a purely hypothetical example, an additional MXN 4 per completed order across 300 comparable orders adds MXN 1,200 to the modeled cost. These figures illustrate arithmetic; they are not Amazon or Skynera prices.

Include the cost of switching

A merchant-fulfilled comparison needs receiving, storage, picking, packaging, carrier charges, returns and the staff work required to manage exceptions. If physical stock must be transferred, include that movement and the period before it is received and available.

Changing the fulfillment setting does not physically relocate inventory. Do not assume that stock held in one location can immediately support dispatch from another.

Decide which response actually fits

If the impact comes from a package measurement, follow the dimension and weight audit. If carrying stock is the main cost, review inventory age and storage decisions. If an alternative fulfillment path appears viable, use the small-SKU pilot checklist before scaling it.

Verify the first invoices after a change

Compare billed charges with your model and investigate the difference. Watch dispatch performance and returns as well as margin: a lower modeled cost is not an improvement if the new process produces service failures.

Return to the FBA and FBM strategy guide when deciding the longer-term mix. Keep marketplace-specific source documents with your cost model instead of borrowing another country’s fee schedule.
